New hybrid buses on the streets of Ełk

The first three modern hybrid buses of the company Volvo appeared on the streets of Ełk. These are air-conditioned buses with LCD monitors passenger information voice system. Delivery of another 3 buses planned by the end of September 2020. The total cost of 6 buses is approximately PLN 11.4 million, including funding from the European Union of approximately 100 000 000 000 000 000 PLN 7.8 million. Watch the video!

Official transfer on 5th December with the participation of President Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicza, representatives of Volvo and representatives of MZK in Ełk. Purchase of modern hybrid buses are part of the project under the name "Development of sustainable public transport in Ełk." Bus delivery hybrid has been divided into two stages:
  • In 2019, 3 buses (which have already been delivered). The total cost is approximately 10 000 kg. 5,7 million pln, including approximately PLN 100 million. PLN 3.9 million eu grant
  • In Another 3 buses will be delivered in 2020. The total cost is approximately 10 000 kg. 5.7m pln, including approx. 100 000 PLN. PLN 3.9 million eu grant

The total cost of 6 hybrid buses is approximately 10 000 000 000 000 000 00 pln 11.4 million, including the grant received, is approximately EUR 11.4 million. PLN 7.8 million and comes from the Regional Operational Programme of the Warmian Masurian Voivodeship for the period 2014-2020.

This year (2019) in project "Development of sustainable public transport in Ełk" we will use 3 hybrid buses. In 2020, as part of the implementation of the same task, the there will be another 3 buses. There will also be an alarm signalling system installed at 3intersections. Information boards will be installed at bus stops for passengers. A system will also be installed to increase the safety of made up of a video camera and the SOS button to emergency communication with the city guard.

The value of the whole project "Sustainable development" public transport in Ełk" (purchase of buses and installation of information systems) is approximately 10 000 kg. 17,5 pln 13 million of which the grant amount is almost PLN 13 million.

In addition, the city Ełk has received 3.5 million funding for the purchase of another two new buses hybrid development in 2021 (under another project entitled 'Development of hybrid suprey' sustainable public transport in Ełk – Stage III"). In total, in 8 hybrid buses will be used for use.

Planned is the purchase not only of the next two hybrid buses (in 2021), but purchase of six new dynamic information boards that will be installed at stops with cameras and SOS buttons. In addition, smart devices that will give priority to passing buses at 4 intersections.

The total value of this project is almost 5 million 200 thousand 10 000 PLN. including a grant of PLN 3.5 million.

Volvo 7900 Hybrid is a low-floor bus hybrid drive, adapted for the carriage of persons with disabilities. Vehicles will be air-conditioned, equipped m.in. lcd monitors showing graphic the line process, the passenger information voice system, the USB port for charging of mobile devices and video surveillance consisting of cameras internal and external. In addition, new buses can accommodate 95 passengers, including 30 seats and 4 seats for Disabled guests. Hybrid drive means that the bus will have two engines: electric and internal combustion. Vehicles are power-powered when moving and stopping at stops. After speed of 15-20 km/h switch to diesel power supply. Batteries charge during braking and the bus does not require additional charging infrastructure.

Beware! In view of the the completion of the reconstruction of ul. Polish Army, buses no. 1, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 17 and 18 will be redirected to the street of the National Army to their existing routes. The change will take place on 7 December 2019.
