In connection with the entry into the the force of the new legislation adopted by the Sejm and the Polish Senate "in the Law on the maintenance of cleanliness and order in municipalities" – an absolute obligation to collect waste in a selective manner and new rules for waste segregation, which are uniform throughout Poland.

What really happened Changes?

With the entry into the the common system of the Regulation will take effect throughout Poland Waste Sorting (WSSO), which aims to harmonise waste systems waste segregation in individual municipalities. The system introduces a waste breakdown for fractions and indications of containers or containers for their storage:

1.    Waste glass
2.    waste from paper
3.    waste of metals, plastics
4.    waste biodegradable
5.    waste Residual

This means that no non-separate collection of waste.

From 1 in a single-family building, the transfer of waste to be collected by the export company in bags (but in the appropriate colours) or in any but sticker (or inscription) of containers, suggesting that the fraction for reception.

As of 1 July 2022 (i.e. in 2 years) all containers will also have to have the following color scheme:

• glass – greencontainer ,
• paper – bluecontainer ,
• metals and plastics – yellowcontainer ,
• for biodegradable waste , browncontainer ,
• for mixed waste, the so-called (not suitable for any of the above fractions) – a container of blackcolor .

In addition, containers will be able to have colored stickers with faction information.

Residents at the address will receive information on changes in the management system waste and the proper segregation of waste, in the form of:

• Brochures
• Stickers for homemade garbage cans, which will be a form of hints on how to properly segregate household waste
• Prepared smartphone app "Ełk segregates" smartphones, which will help to help separate collection of municipal waste. The application will be download ed mobile phones from the App Store (available at the end of the may) and Google Play.

Throwing away garbage LET US REMEMBER not only which containers we put individual waste into, but also about how to prepare plastic bottles or by crushing them, so that it is then easier to subject them to the correct Recycled.

Declaration forms – you will be able to download in June website of the city of Elk and at the Ełk City Hall. Waste rates for residents does not change until July 2020.
