The Football Tournament for People with Disabilities in Ełk will bring together teams representing various and organizations working for people with disabilities. We invite you to the stadium of the Municipal Sports and Recreation Center this Sunday, May 24. The tournament starts at 10.00 a.m.  The organizer event is Futbol Plus, which has been supporting the development of football for years children and young people with disabilities. The tournament will be hosted by The ATOM EŁK Association.

The organizers invite whole families, residents of the region and all sports fans to cheer together. The event is held under the patronage of the Mayor of the City of Ełk, Tomasz Andrukiewicz.

The Ełk Family Days are underway. As part of the celebrations, the City of Ełk has prepared a number of events and events aimed at, m.in integration and spending time together. This Saturday, May 23, we invite you to celebrate the Days of the City of Ełk, Mother's Day and Children's Day together.

The second call is underway applications for a subsidy from the budget of the City of Ełk for the implementation of projects in the field of development of sport in Ełk in 2026 by entities not included in the public finances. In the first The call for proposals was awarded grants for a total amount of PLN 150 thousand.

The subsidy can be received by sports clubs operating sports in the city of Ełk, not operating for profit, which participate in organized sports competitions in disciplines team and individual teams.

The grant may be used to co-finance the implementation of the requested task in the field of sports development, and in particular for:

1.      implementation of sports training programs players and training staff;
2.      purchase of sports equipment;
3.      covering the costs of organizing competitions sports competitions;
4.      covering the costs of using the facilities sports training for the purpose of sports training;
5.      financing of sports scholarships awarded by the club on the basis of the regulations.

For the implementation of tasks in the field of sports development, in the second The City of Ełk also plans to allocate PLN 150,000 to the call.

The Mayor of the City of Ełk has completed the competition procedure for the selection of directors of municipal educational institutions for the next term of office. The recruitment, announced on 23 February, covered six schools and kindergartens, and the selection committee indicated the candidates recommended to take up the positions from 1 September 2026.

Today (Friday, May 15), Tomasz Andrukiewicz, the Mayor of Ełk, handed over the positions to the new directors. They were received today by:

In the Municipal Kindergarten "Słoneczna Ósemka" in Ełk, which is managed by Edyta Dąbrowska, and in the School John Paul II Primary School No. 9 in Ełk, led by Barbara Dardzińska, the President extended the entrustment of the the position of the director.

There were flowers and thanks, but there was also an educational element. During the meeting, Mateusz Sieradzan - a nurse, paramedic, author of books

and popularizer of medical knowledge, known in social media as "Mr. Nurse". Associated with medicine on a daily basis emergency services and work in the emergency department, has been showing the backstage of the work of the staff for years and promotes modern and empathetic nursing.

The event was graced by musical performances by Helena Matukanis, Michalina Jakubczyk and Martyna Więcko.

"Poland for Yes" is a project of TVP Info. The television program will present the city from the perspective of the inhabitants of Ełk, who will tell how it is to live in a place where peaceful Masuria meets urban energy. The guests of the program will be athletes, artists, music bands and non-governmental organizations. From the open-air studio, TVP viewers will learn more about the Ełk community - active, committed and ready to help others. 

This Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 11.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., we invite the residents of Ełk to the city beach at Parkowa Street, because it is from there that the program will be broadcast. It will be there that you will be able to get tested free of charge in a dentobus, cytobus, mammobus, measure blood pressure and sugar levels. An integral part of the event will be a health zone prepared together with the National Health Fund, 118. Military Hospital and Post-Secondary School "Medyk" in Ełk.

Participants are encouraged to prepare a costume or outfit with their own leitmotif - fairytale, sports, ecological or simply very colorful. Banners, balloons and decorations will be welcome. We encourage you to walk with your pets (of course, under the care of their owners). What matters is fun and creativity. During the festival, we will symbolically distinguish the most inventive, colorful and energetic groups of participants. There are no registrations or formalities – just come and play with us.

A family festival with a field game and a draw of attractive prizes is planned on John Paul II Square. The final of the day was a concert. At 5:00 p.m., Blanka will perform.

On Saturday, May 16, the opening of the event and the race on the Gran Fondo route Kids. The youngest will compete in the area of the "new" City Beach at ul. Kolbe.

• Gran Fondo – distance 95 km (two rounds, turn left in the town of Krzywińskie towards Olszewo).

The start and finish will be located at the sports hall on St. Maksymiliana Marii Kolbego Street in Ełk. 

The program of the competition is available HERE - CLICK TO GO. The route will run along city roads, roads counties of the Ełk and Pisz counties, municipal roads of the Ełk commune, and a section of provincial road No. 667.

Changes traffic organization :

On in the area of the city of Ełk in the course of Barranki Street and St. Maximiliana Maria Kolbego Street separation of lanes with posts (cones) set in the axis of the road every 10 m. The entrances to the property will be secured with U-20a road barriers. On intersections with side roads will be fenced in the form of U-20B road barriers. Movement vehicles will be possible on one lane of the road. Movement will be manually / radio-controlled by persons at stations (intersections) who will be allowed to allow public transport vehicles and vehicles heading to the and from the city hospital, when the race riders drive a given section of the road. Traffic will be allowed to shuttle, taking into account the exit from side roads. People vehicles that do not require going to the city hospital will be directed to city roads in the Baranki housing estate.

In if necessary, people from the competition service moving on scooters will They rearranged barriers and allowed exit/entry to the property.

With attention to the movement of MZK transport and the need to get to the Municipal Hospital traffic of competitors on the section of Baranki Street (administrative border of the city of Ełk) will be carried out on the roadway in one lane, excluded from traffic vehicles.

Changes in Ełk public transport during the PZU Gran Fondo Ełk 2026 race:

In view of the organization of the PZU Gran Fondo Ełk 2026 cycling race, which will take place in Sunday, 17 May 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., temporary changes in the functioning of Ełk public transport.

Difficulties will mainly concern the Jeziorna housing estate and the village of Barany. On St. Maximiliana Marii Kolbe and Barranki Streets, a temporary organization of traffic consisting in its significant limitation. Possibility of driving will depend on the current course of the race, with Priority will be given to emergency medical vehicles.

In areas Traffic will be directed by authorized services. Please all road users to exercise special caution and following the orders and signals given.

Previously located in the main building of the City Hall Ełk Taxpayer Service Office is changing its location from Monday (11 May).

The new headquarters of the Taxpayer Service Office will be located in the building at 6 Piłsudskiego Street, room 2, stand no. 2. In the same building there is Benefits Department and Civil Affairs Department.

Competition addressed to is for graduates of master's, engineer's, bachelor's studies, doctoral students and postgraduate students. Its purpose is to popularization of knowledge about Ełk, promotion of the achievements of the authors of diploma theses and encouraging innovative scientific and research projects related to with the city.

We are starting a free action of marking dogs and owner cats and free-living. Marking involves implanting it under the skin of the animal microchip containing a unique 15-digit number, which will be registered by a veterinarian in the nationwide SAFE-ANIMAL database. Thanks It is possible to quickly identify the animal and contact the owner in in the case of its disappearance, and in the case of free-living cats – also monitoring their populations.

The revitalization of the square at Żeromskiego Street is taking place in project "Improving the functionality of two squares in the area of revitalization in Ełk" from the European Funds for Warmia and Mazury for the years 2021-2027.

Pursuant to Resolution No. XXI.208.2026 of the Ełk City Council of 22.04.2026 on the restriction of the sale of alcoholic beverages (Official Journal of Laws Voivodeship. Warmian-Masurian Act of 2026, item 1816), in the City of Ełk A ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages intended for consumption is introduced outside the point of sale at 10.00 p.m. – 6.00 a.m.

The ban applies to all retail outlets of beverages including grocery stores, supermarkets and petrol stations, who have a permit to sell alcohol intended for consumption outside the place of sale. The restriction does not apply to catering establishments where alcoholic beverages are eaten on the spot.

The resolution enters into force and is valid in the area of of the entire city from 14.05.2026

Entrepreneurs who run points in the city with authorisation to retail alcoholic beverages shall be granted to any necessary information. The Ełk City Hall is in the process of delivering letters directly to entrepreneurs.

Runmageddon is an obstacle course at various levels of difficulty. Participants cover routes full of natural and artificial obstacles. They run in the water, climb walls, crawl in the mud, drag heavy objects. Runmageddon is a physical and mental challenge, but also cooperation and fun.

Today (4 May) we celebrate the International Firefighter's Day. The holiday is an expression of respect for firefighters for their hard work and risking their lives. It is also a day when we pay tribute to all firefighters who gave their lives during rescue operations.

It is a difficult and extremely noble profession at the same time. To become a firefighter, physical strength is not enough. You have to analyze the situation, anticipate risks, make quick decisions - not everyone can do that. I wish you that the effort you put into your work every day will always result in social respect. Today (3 May) the celebration of the adoption of the Constitution began at 10:00 a.m. with the Holy Mass in the Cathedral of St. Adalbert with a beautiful setting music of the Kontrapunkt choir. Then a delegation headed by the Mayor of Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicz, as well as the inhabitants of Ełk and guests marched to the Park Solidarity, where they took part in further official celebrations at the monument "To the Fallen for Free and Independent Poland" with the participation of the Honorary Company of the 16. Reconnaissance Battalion in Ełk.

The rest of the celebration is ahead of us. You are cordially invited from 2:00 p.m. to the lake, to the square at Pułaskiego Street, where there will be stalls with handicrafts, a zone for children, animations, games, an art corner and even pea soup - at one o'clock 15:00. On 29-30 April, on the premises of the military facility located in Konieczki, training of soldiers will be carried out with the use of means of simulating the battlefield. This may result in a temporary increase in noise levels.

These are planned exercises of a training nature. There is no reason to worry.

Bids can be submitted by non-governmental organizations and entities referred to in Article 3(3) of the Act of 24 April 2003 on activities of public benefit and volunteering.

All matters related to the competition, i.e. announcing competitions, submitting tenders, formal evaluation and substantive analysis, selection of offers, negotiation of contract terms and their signing, implementation of tasks and reporting is carried out with the use of service www.witkac.pl.

The task will be ordered in the form of entrustment.

No own contribution is required.

A person-day in the organization of winter holidays in the city Ełk is up to PLN 15.

A person-day in the organization of winter holidays outside Ełk is up to PLN 30.

Winter holidays within the offered task must last not less than 5 days at the place of residence and not less than 7 days outside the place of residence .

One bidder may submit 1 bid in the competition.

Today, on the 88th anniversary of his birth, we remember an extraordinary figure - Zofia Nasierowska Street.

Zofia Nasierowska was born on April 24, 1938, and She began her adventure with photography when she was only seven years old. Already at the age of 11 presented her first exhibition. She specialized in landscape and reportages, but she achieved real mastery in portraiture. She is the author of photos of famous figures from the world of theatre, film, art and science.

Zofia Nasierowska lived in the area for over 20 years Ełk, being very involved in the cultural life of the capital of Masuria. For in 2009 she received the White Lily Award in the Ambassador category Ełk.

She passed away on October 3, 2011, but she is still with us every day. He is the patron of the Municipal Public Library in Ełk, and her character can be admired on two murals located near the facility.

In total, 1000 seedlings were sent to Ełczany and Ełczany - these are, m.in, spruces, rowan, beeches and maples. We would like to thank the Ełk Forest District for joining the spring edition and donating 500 seedlings.

The action was organized on the occasion of the ongoing Ełk Earth Days. The next edition will take place in the autumn!

Today (22 April) the XXI Session of the Ełk City Council took place. During the meeting, the city councilors adopted a resolution on the restriction of night sale of alcoholic beverages.

The adopted resolution introduces a restriction sale of alcoholic beverages in the city of Ełk. The restriction applies to sales conducted between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. all retail outlets of alcoholic beverages, including m.in. shops, markets and petrol stations with sales permits alcoholic beverages intended for consumption outside the point of sale.

Restriction details and its entry into force will be published in a separate communication.

Situation analysis

The adoption of the resolution was preceded by an analysis of the situation local market. There are retail outlets in the city of Ełk selling alcoholic beverages also at night. Z analysis shows that the number of retail outlets offering alcoholic beverages after 10:00 p.m. is 31. At the same time, It was established that the sale of alcoholic beverages in the early morning hours, i.e. from 5.00 a.m. it is run in 8 points of sale.

Data on the intervention was provided by the District Headquarters Police in Ełk. In 2025, the following number of events was recorded:

1. Consumption of alcohol in prohibited places - 1691,
2. Bringing people in a state of intoxication to sober up – 687,
3. Committing an immoral prank – 563,
4. Disturbing public order and peace – 430.

According to data from the District Police Headquarters in Ełk, the cost of activities related to bringing people to sobriety in 2025 amounted to about PLN 120 thousand.

Residents reported the problem of alcohol consumption in public space as many as 350 times through the National Hazard Map.

From the data of the Municipal Social Welfare Center in Ełk shows that the problem of alcohol abuse is one of the important factors in the affecting the difficult life situation of families covered by social assistance. On Based on the analyses held, alcoholism ranks 5th among the main reasons for providing support.

In 2025, out of over 6 thousand patients, as many as 322 people tested positive for alcohol at the 118th Military Hospital (ED). These people often end up in a condition requiring extended diagnostics, it is necessary to exclude brain injuries or other serious diseases, which generates additional costs. The average cost of such a patient's stay ranges from PLN 800 to PLN 1500, and in total it amounts to about PLN 322 thousand per year. Importantly, a significant number of these people do not have insurance, and part of the costs are covered by social welfare institutions.

Data from Emergency Medical Teams - in the period from April 2025 to April 2026, rescue teams went out about 7200 times, of which as many as 18% of interventions concerned people under the influence of alcohol. These interventions are among the most dangerous and represent a significant burden on the rescue system both in terms of personnel and equipment.

Public consultations

Ełk City Hall, from February 25 to March 4, 2026 year, consulted on the proposal for the introduction of restriction of night sales of alcoholic beverages in the city of Ełk.

Total number of consultation forms submitted – 493

Behind the introduction restriction of alcohol sales was voted by 409 people (83%)

Against the introduction of 74 people (15%) voted to limit the sale of alcohol

Experiences of other cities

Experiences of other local government units, in which restrictions on the night sale of alcoholic beverages have been introduced, intended for consumption outside the point of sale, indicate positive effects of such solutions. In particular, there is a decrease in the number of interventions undertaken by security services at night, reduction of public disturbances and the improvement of public order safety and comfort of life of residents.

Inside the tower there is the Museum of Drops of Water, where there are old pumping machines, everyday objects from several decades ago and a gallery of historical photographs of Ełk from the beginning of the 20th century.

The tower is owned by the Association of the German National Minority "Mazury" in Ełk. According to the association, due to the ongoing renovation works, the Museum of Drops of Water remains closed until further notice.

We invite artists, cultural creators and craftsmen to participate in the "Promenade with Passion" initiative. In the period from 1 May to 30 September 2026, selected areas along the Ełk promenade will be made available free of charge to enable the presentation of talents, passion and artistic activity.

In this way, we want to revive the space by the lake and create meeting places with music, art and crafts. Importantly, presentations must not be of a commercial nature – sales are not allowed.

It is enough to submit a simple application containing the applicant's details, proposed location, date and method of presentation.

There are four main locations available:

1. the promenade area near Wojska Polskiego Street (near WANS),

. at Pułaskiego Street (near the playground and basketball court),

. at Pułaskiego Street (on the south side pumping station),

4. at Nadjeziorna Street (in the vicinity of the playground).

There is also an option to share other locations. Each application will be analysed individually.

This is the 12th edition of the "You Give Garbage – Tree you get it." So far, the residents of Ełk have received and planted as many as 5600 trees!

On Thursday, April 23, at John Paul II Square in Ełk, from 1:00 p.m., the next edition of the campaign will begin distributing tree seedlings. Every resident who brings a plastic bag textile waste or electrical waste will receive tree seedlings!

Rules of the action:

1 seedling can be obtained for:

• textile/clothing bag
• or 10 batteries
• or small electrical waste (e.g. telephone, charger, computer mouse)

A maximum of 2 seedlings per person can be obtained.

We are also introducing a novelty! For people working in in the afternoon. It is possible to register your willingness to participate in the action by phone.

In this case, the cuttings will be set aside and will be at a later agreed date.

There will be 500 seedlings to be distributed (m.in. spruces, rowan, beeches, maples). In addition, spruce seedlings donated by the Ełk Forest District will be available.

During the event, it will also be possible to talk to an energy advisor of the Ełk City Hall and get information about the "Clean Air" program – m.in. in the field of subsidies for heat source replacement and thermal modernization.

Over 120 participants and 40 kilograms of clay – this is what the Ceramic Festival in Ełk looked like. On Friday, April 10, the Leszek Błażyński Hall at 16 Armii Krajowej Street in Ełk for eight hours was something like a time machine.

During the day, the hall was visited by groups from Ełk kindergartens and schools, as well as families who decided to spend the day in an interesting way. Everyone could try hand gluing from balls and rollers, painting ceramics in the style of Greek masters, imprinting their own tile on the common mosaic and – as far as possible turned out to be the biggest attraction – to stand by the potter's wheel and see on the vividly, as if a vessel is made of a shapeless lump of clay. The final effect of the festival is a common mosaic consisting of several dozen clay tiles made by the participants. After burning, it will go to the public space of Ełk.

The first edition was held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Ełk, Tomasz Andrukiewicz, and with funding from the budget of the Ełk City Hall. Admission was free.

Ełk Earth Days is a series of various events that bring together education with practice, showing that everyone can have a real impact on the state of surrounding nature. Through cleaning actions, workshops, meetings and recreational events participants learn how to manage responsibly natural resources and make daily decisions that are conducive to environment.

Planned events during the Ełk Earth Days:

"Collect Phones for Earth" Contest (until April 30)

For each phone returned, the participant receives 1 point. Im The more points, the greater the chance of attractive prizes!

"Garbage Bag" campaign (20-26 April)

The aim of the action is to collect waste abandoned in forests, parks and lakes. The participant of the action must document photographically the place he will be cleaning, and then take a photo of the plastic bag from the rubbish against the background of a cleaned place. Photos should be sent to biuro@cee.elk.pl. Participants will be rewarded.

Concert for the Earth (Monday, April 20)

Meeting with Karol Wójcicki "With your head in the stars" (Tuesday 21 April)

What do you need to do to join the nationwide campaign?

The Municipality of the City of Ełk as part of the agreement signed with the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management has created an information and consultation station for the operation of residents for the purposes of the Clean Air program.

This will ensure that interested parties programme can obtain the necessary assistance in completing and submitting an application for co-financing, as well as obtain all information about the program.

The point is located in the building at Piłsudskiego 6 Street in room number 7 and in the building of the Ełk City Hall at 4 Piłsudskiego Street in room number 243. The points operate from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 15:00.

"Clean Air" Program

Program The Clean Air Priority is a comprehensive program the purpose of which is to is to reduce or avoid emissions of dust and other pollutants released into the atmosphere by houses single-family. Program sbuy on the exchange old fuel stoves and boilers permanent and thermal modernization single-family buildings to effectively manage Power. These measures will not only help to protect the environment, but will further increase the home budget, thanks to financial savings.

Program The Clean Air Priority gives the opportunity to obtain financial support in the form of grants and/or loans by individuals, homeowners single-family houses for insulating the house, replacement of windows or replacement of of an old heating boiler. It will beimplemented in the years 2018-2029 and thecumulative actions in its within the framework is the amount over 103 billion PLN.

The call for applications in the twentieth edition of the competition for the White Lily Award for outstanding contribution to the development and promotion of the city of Ełk for 2025 is underway. The White Lily Awards have been awarded annually since 2007. The idea of the award is to distinguish people who serve the city and its inhabitants in a special way with their daily work, activity and commitment, and contribute to the promotion of Ełk.

The organizers of the event are the Sports Club Hardened Ełk, Masuria Winter Swimming CUP and the Municipal Sports Center and Recreation in Ełk. The competition was held under the patronage of the Mayor of the City of Ełk, Tomasz Andrukiewicz and the Starost of Ełk Marek Chojnowski.

City of Ełk cooperates with non-governmental organizations by commissioning them to implement their statutory tasks. Contracts signed today (25 March) at the Ełk City Hall relate to tasks such as, m.in the provision of respite care services, the support of activities of older people and people with disabilities and support development of sport.

After the completion of the construction work and the closure of the body of the building, the activities moved to the interior of the building. All floors in the building have already been made. The interior walls are also being completed. Currently, robots focus on assembly installations: electrical, teletechnical and sanitary systems, as well as fire-fighting and medical gases. This is one of the key stages of the investment, preparing the building for finishing works and installation of equipment.

The new facility will significantly strengthen the potential of care long-term care in Ełk, providing patients with modern conditions of stay and professional care. According to the contract, the contractor has time to complete the task until June 15, 2026. The value of the investment is almost PLN 19 million, of which over PLN 16 million is co-financed by the Ministry of Health. We wrote more about the investment here - click to go.

Project No. KPOD.07.08-IP.10-0147/24 entitled "Development infrastructure of the "Pro-Medica" Hospital in Ełk Sp. z o.o. through the construction of building with equipment and technical infrastructure, intended for the purpose of long-term care" implemented as part of the National Recovery Plan and Increase Resilience: Component D "Efficiency, Availability and Quality health care system" - Investment D4.1.1 "Development of care long-term by upgrading the infrastructure of healthcare providers in the at the county level".

From February 16, 2026 to February 27, 2026, verified all applications, of which 25 were awarded care services respite, 4 people were entered on the reserve list, during the verification 1 person submitted their resignation.

Respite care services will be provided as part of a day stay. The program will be implemented from April 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026.

Total amount The implementation of the task amounts to PLN 258,290.00, of which:

• Solidarity Fund in the as part of the ministerial programme of the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy of the "Respite Care" Programme – 2026 edition in the amount of PLN 242,800.80.  
• own funds for the implementation of the task in the amount of PLN 15,489.20.

On 25 March, the democratic circles of Belarus celebrate Freedom Day, commemorating the 108th anniversary of the declaration of independence of the People's Republic of Belarus. In today's Belarus, this holiday is not recognized.

As a sign of solidarity and support for the Belarusian people, initiatives are undertaken around the world to promote the white, red and white colors of the historical flag of Belarus adopted in 1918, when the Belarusian People's Republic declared independence.

As a sign of solidarity by symbolically joining the action, today (March 25) a white-red-white flag of Belarusians fighting for freedom was hung on the building of the Ełk City Hall.

The investment is carried out as part of the project "Improvement of functionality of two squares in the revitalization area in Ełk", which received co-financing from the European Funds for Warmia and Mazury for the years 2021-2027. covers 85% of the investment costs.

The main assumption of the project is the development of space promote social inclusion and improve safety in the the area of the city center of Ełk.

The square at Słowackiego Street has an area of approx. 2,617.29 m2. The project assumes a division into a leisure and representative zone to commemorate the soldiers of the September Campaign.

The scope of the investment is provided for m.in:

• construction of pedestrian routes with squares in the form of circles made of granite cubes
• , the construction of a pedestrian route with a pavement resin-mineral path (auxiliary path)
construction of a
• sensory path with a surface variety of natural pebbles, pine cones, bark, bricks, wood, gravel, etc.
• construction of two pergolas with a diameter of 4 m and 4.6 m,
• construction of lighting - 30 pcs.,
• construction of monitoring,
construction of a
• drinking water drinking fountain with a connection water and sewage,
• installation of elements of small architecture: baskets for dirt, benches, bicycle racks, gaming tables with seats, cross, flagpoles,
• planting greenery,
• renovation of the existing monument,
installation of an
• information board in the form of tape film.

Works on the implementation of the investment are planned to begin in the second half of April. The contractor of the investment is AMPRI B-K Rafał Pycz Paving and Stonemasonry Company.

Total value of the project: PLN 4,050,665.84

EU co-financing: PLN 3,443,065.95

Digital Bridges is a nationwide initiative of the Central Centre Computer Science, the aim of which is to strengthen the competences of parents and guardians  and children's teachers to consciously accompany the youngest in their daily online challenges. The program provides not only knowledge and practical Tips, but also ready-made materials to download and use at home: from educational content to tools to help build a safe environment digital.    

During the meeting, specialists in the field of psychology, sociology and cybersecurity, will talk, m.in, about the emotions that accompany young social media users, how to talk to children about their experiences without judging, as well as how to build in young Internet users healthy digital habits. Importantly, the aforementioned experts will not only tell you But they will also answer – questions asked by webinar participants.

Colorful Sock Day, celebrated on March 21, is World Down Syndrome Day. The day is not accidental. Today we also celebrate the first day of spring, which symbolizes the birth of a new life, as well as social acceptance. The date also refers to to the third chromosome in the 21st pair, which causes this condition. This On the day we put on colorful socks "not to match", which symbolize mismatch social and genotypic conditions faced by people with Down Syndrome, as well as diversity and uniqueness of each person.

The purpose of this holiday is to increase social awareness, breaking stereotypes, showing support, tolerance and acceptance for people with Down syndrome.

Joining the celebrations, today the building of the City Hall and District Office of Ełk will be illuminated in color.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the administration health care institutions, industry experts and partners in the Member States of the European Union and partner countries. It It is their substantive contribution and presented experiences that will allow for the development of practical recommendations that will be used in the implementation of low-carbon solutions in health facilities.

The participants of the meeting visited the Thermal Energy Company in Ełk and the Pro-Medica Municipal Hospital in Ełk. The purpose of the visits was to get acquainted directly with good practices and pro-ecological solutions already implemented in the Ełk units.

The training is aimed at people who are considering taking on the role of a foster family and want to learn more about the functioning of the foster care system and about the responsibilities and possibilities of support for caregivers. Every year, the best students of municipal schools receive from of the Mayor of Ełk scholarships for social activity and academic results. Scholarships are awarded as a form of financial support for students municipal primary schools (grades V-VIII) and VI High School Polish Olympians in the Sports School Complex in Ełk, who demonstrate significant socially useful activities and achieve very good academic results.

For the scholarship period from January 1 to June 30, 2026. 50 applications were received. The Mayor of the City awarded 30 scholarships, which went to to pupils of municipal schools:

• Primary School No. 2 named after Danuta Siedzikówna "Inka" in Ełk – 5 pupils,Henryk
• Sienkiewicz Primary School No. 3 in Ełk – 2 students,

The scholarship can be awarded to a student who:

• is active and involved in social activities at the for the local, school and peer environment,
• achieves very good academic results (average for the last year school - not less than 4.5 and at least a good grade in behavior).

The scholarships are worth PLN 200 (classes V and VI), PLN 250 (class VII and VIII) and PLN 300 in LO per month and will be paid directly in schools.
