1 September 1939-Attack of Germany on Poland and the beginning of World War II. At 4.45 school German Battleship "Schleswig-Holstein" began the shelling of Westerplatte, military Transit Depot on the territory of the free city of Danzig, defended by the crew (about 200 soldiers) under the command of major. Henryk Sucharski and captain. Franciszek Dąbrowski. By 7 days heroically fought off she repeated attacks German from the sea, Earth and air, becoming a symbol of Polish resistance.

World War II lasted six years and claimed the 72 millions of lives. Until the end of the war, took part in the 61 countries on the 67.

To commemorate the anniversary of the World War II, 78 and aggression of Nazi Germany on Poland on 1 September of the year 2017. 12:00 pm, in the Elk run will be sirens (for 1 minute).
