Independence day is one of the most important holidays for each pole. After 123 years of partitions marked by oppression, suffering and struggle of several generations of Compatriots our Homeland regained their freedom.

This year the celebrations have a special character, as we celebrate the 100. the anniversary of Poland's independence. Therefore, we encourage you to participate in the celebrations of the city, but also to display the red and white flags and displaying other patriotic symbols. This will be not only a way to indicate distrust of patriotism, but also to present a tribute to all those who have contributed to the fact that today we live in Poland.

The program of the celebrations:

8 November (Thursday)

1) Giving the names of Dębom Independence in the Park of solidarity (with the participation of the children of the two ełckich kindergartens and pupils SP # 2)-HR. 9.00

9 November (Fri)

1) flagship Festival -transfer of state flags from the point before the cultural centre of Ełk (10:00-10:45).

2) the official establishment of the record Polish children at the same time, singing the national anthem (Amphitheatre Ełckie cultural center, h 11.00)

The Organizer is the municipal Kindergarten "Light". Torun 8A. Expected amount of approx. 1300 children.

The event is related with the implementation of the international project "the beauty of Our Entire Poland", that the patronage of the covered m.in. The Ministry Of Culture And National Heritage.

3) the opening of the exhibition "not only legions. Polish military formations, 1914-1918 " (historical Museum in Elk, ul. Narrow Track 1, 12.00. 18.00)

• Lecture: "Polish armed formations in the years of World War I," dr HAB. Piotr Szlanta (historical Institute of Warsaw University)

• Guided tour of the exhibition: Marek Gajewski, author of the exhibition, curator of the military museum in Białystok

4) postal Wagon in the EKW (ul. Narrow Track 1)

On 9-11 November 2018, from 10.00-17.00, restored postal wagon in the historical Museum in Elk. Narrow Track 1, you will be able to send a greeting card on the occasion of the 100. anniversary of independence by Poland.

Cards will be able to receive for free. You pay only for the commemorative stamp (also released under 100. anniversary of independence by Poland)-promotion price (equal to the price of a postage stamp economic Polish post): 2.60 zł (normally £ 4.50).

5) commemorative "Ełczanie century"

On 9-11 November we invite ełczan to make a wish, to enter into a special book on the occasion of the 100 anniversary of Polish independence.

The book will be available at the Office Of Elk, and on Friday also in Ełk County Cultural Center. 10:00-11:30.
