The first session of the new City Council was held today (November 23) in the municipality of Elk. In accordance with the procedure of the meeting opened the Senior Councillor Aegidius Podwojski (member selected from the list of citizens ' Coalition). Then the President of the municipal election Commission in Elk Jolanta Wilczyńska officially presented the certificate of selection of a Councillor.

The next item on the agenda was the submission by 23 Councillors solemn vows with the following content:

"Faithful to the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Poland, I pledge solemnly obligations Councilor exercise with dignity, fairly and honestly, having due regard to the welfare of my municipality and its inhabitants."
"I swear that I will". Most of the councilors also added the words "so help me God".

Then the individual clubs have raised their candidates for the Presidency of the Council of the city of Elk: common good-Andrew Surynta, a citizens ' Coalition-Vladimir Szelążka, law and justice-Raphael Crucians. Unfortunately, after three rounds of the vote there were Chair. This point will therefore be discussed on 3 December.

In the next part of the meeting was to extend the Office of the Mayor of the city of Ełk in term of 2018 – 2023. Making a solemn oath Tomasz Andrukiewicz began his fourth presidential term:

"Embracing the Office of the Mayor of the city, solemnly promise that dochowam fidelity law, and entrusted to me I will hold office only for the public good and well-being of residents of Elk."
"So help me God."

The President of the Elk made a speech, in which he said m.in:

"I am honored that during today's session of the City Council I am standing Councillors, I stand before the inhabitants of the town of Ełk, in front of all those with whom I had the pleasure to work. Residents of Elk have entrusted the exercise of their cases on behalf of a Councillor of the City Council and the President. I would like us to all these activities for residents of Elk performed together, we with determination, responsibility, respect and develop our city.

Our city is a big story is also 100-year anniversary of Poland's independence. Our city is a place in which we live, but our city is primarily ełczanie.

For ełczan I would like us to together with councilmen of the City Council were involved in all these projects. I would like us to all project reports and the relationships they first of all before our employers or ełczanami.

Ełczanie expect us to have engaged them in the Affairs of the Elk, manage our city, hence I would we still continued cooperation with non-governmental organisations, a local initiative to fruition, and we also put citizens ' budget, where residents will have an even greater impact on the execution of the tasks of our city ".

Tomasz Andrukiewicz presented his first Deputy, which will still be Artur Urbanski. He announced, however, that in the near future establish also the second Deputy.

In today's ceremony was attended by many guests, m.in.: clergy-the representatives of the different religions, local government, Presidents and directors of municipal and district organizational units, as well as representatives of the different ełckich backgrounds. Assembled guests made the President congratulations and wishes of success in the service of the ełckiej community.

In the local elections that took place on 21 October, the residents of Elk once again put on the current President. Tomasz Andrukiewicz won and lost with a score of 73.8% of the vote.

For 20 years, is actively involved in local government. In the years 1998-2006 he was a Councillor District Council Ełckie.
