Today (23 February) took place XXXIX Session of the Elk City Council, at which a position was taken on expressing solidarity with Ukraine and declarations humanitarian aid. The position reads m.in.:

'Self-government The City of Ełk expresses its concern about the situation at the border with this position. countries neighbouring the Republic of Poland – Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
We declare solidarity with government administration and other local governments in Poland in terms of assistance and willingness to provide shelter to the civilian population. (...)"

The President of Ełk declared, that if necessary and as far as possible, the city of Elk will accept families in need of help and seeking refuge from a possible war.
