Ełczanie against increases in SM "Dawn". The Mayor of Ełk supports the residents

Owners and tenants apartments in the Housing Cooperative "ŚWIT" participated today (6 May) in the official protest against drastic rent increases – especially in positions on prices for heat. President of Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicz met with the Ełczans and earlier with the management of the cooperative. He also addressed the an appeal m.in to the Government of the Republic of Poland and parliamentarians to take appropriate action to to regulate the law on coal prices, implement a shielding program and protection of residents.  

Recently Cooperative Residential "ŚWIT" in Ełk informed the owners and tenants of apartments with drastic increases in rent amounts and underpayments for heating settlement. They result, m.in, from increase in the cost of purchasing thermal energy caused by current very high prices of coal and CO2 emission rights.

President of Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicz in Saturday, April 30, he met with the town hall in the city hall on this matter. representatives of residents. He proposed the establishment of a committee organizational and selection from among the participants of the bureau. He also offered organizational assistance to the protesters. The ruler of Ełk also undertook talks with the management of the cooperative. He asked for detailed calculations of rates and increases, as well as the allocation of last year's surpluses for correction, and reduction of rent.

Already on Monday (2 May) the President Ełku turned to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki, marshals of the Sejm and Senate of the Republic of Poland, as well as to the president Energy Regulatory Office and Ełk parliamentarians with a written an appeal on increases in the prices of coal, electricity and gas, which can consequently lead to poverty a lot Polish families, as well as to initiate a new phenomenon, which is energy exclusion. The letter reads:

Please consider different possibilities: introduction of regulated prices for coal, creation of one central purchasing group, implementation of a shielding program for heat consumers – residents, but also producers and suppliers – Polish heating plants. These tasks can be financed from carbon rights resources (already expressed in millions of zlotys).

An important issue was also the need to verify Polish climate policy and the problem of the availability of coal on the market, which is signaled by heating plants.

Protesting tenants of SM "ŚWIT" went today (6 May) from the town hall to the headquarters of the housing cooperative and presented their Protests. The President once again met with the residents affected by the heat and rent increases. He is also in constant contact with the Bureau.
