The Siegfried Lenz Literary Competition has been resolved

On Friday (July 29) in The Historical Museum in Ełk has been settled VI International Literary Competition Siegfried Lenz. This year's competition received 62 works from the country and Abroad. The winner was Patryk Zalaszewski from Warsaw.

International The Siegfried Lenz Literary Competition was held for the 6th time. The purpose of the competition by the Municipal Public Library in Ełk is an increase in interest the written word and contemporary literature, as well as encouraging the expression of their emotions, feelings, beliefs and judgments in literature. This year, the 62 works from Poland and abroad. The total prize pool was PLN 10,000.

In this year's edition of the competition was won by:

  • 1 patryk Zalaszewski for "Mimo Boga"
  • 2 place Małgorzata Szczecina for "Cucumbers"
  • 3 michał Kaźmierczak for "On grandmother's dying"

Highlight Received:

  • Izabela Degórska for "Oblivion"
  • Karolina Stypuła for "White Cradles of Europe"
  • May Marta Piekarska for "Perhaps the end of August is equally pleasant"
Siegfried Lenz

Outstanding German writer born in 1926 in Ełk, died in 2014 in Hamburg. Author of "Museum" Homeland Land", "German Lesson", "Sweet Sulejki".

In its literary work referred to the cultural heritage of family Mazur. He was involved in the process of Polish-German reconciliation. Lenza Books have been translated into 22 languages and published in 30 countries.

On October 18th, 2011 r. Siegfried Lenz received the title of Honorary Citizen of the City in Ełk. In The ceremony was attended by almost 300 guests from Polish and abroad.
