Celebration of the anniversary of the introduction of martial law in Poland

13 December marks the 41st anniversary of the introduction of martial law in Poland. In the program Ełk celebrations m.in. laying flowers at the Monument to the Fallen for Free and Independent Poland in the Solidarity Park and the Holy Mass in the cathedral in Ełk.

In Tuesday, December 13, 2022, the celebration of the 41st anniversary will take place in our city introduction of martial law in Poland.

About At 5.30 p.m. it is planned to lay flowers at the Monument to the Fallen for Free and Independent Poland in the Solidarity Park, and at 6 p.m. there will be a Mass Christmas in the church of St. Adalbert.

 There will also be an educational meeting with students Uniformed Education Center as part of patriotism lessons.

On December 13, 1981, throughout the country, by decision of the I Secretary of the Central Committee of the Polish United Workers' Party and Prime Minister General Wojciech Jaruzelski and ministers National defense and internal affairs martial law was introduced in Poland.

Power in the country was taken over by the Military Council of Salvation National (WRONA) under the leadership of General Jaruzelski. Introduction martial law was justified by the economic collapse of the country, the threat of anarchy, civil war and the takeover of power by "Solidarity", in fact he had on the objective of defending the existing system by breaking up and dismantling "Solidarity" as a great social force independent of the authorities Communist.
