XVII Personal Data Protection Day

"The future of personal data protection in the light of technology development" is the topic of a nationwide scientific conference organized as part of the celebration of the XVII Personal Data Protection Day. Data Protection Authority Personal organizes this event on January 31, 2023 in cooperation with with the President of the City of Ełk and the Ełk branch of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.

This year's conference will take place in a hybrid formula. The organizers have planned stationary events in Ełk, at the headquarters of a branch of the University of Warmia and Mazury, which will also be broadcast on the Internet via the website UODO. The program of this year's celebration of the Personal Data Protection Day consists of: scientific conference and accompanying events.

Scientific conference

The aim of the conference "The future the protection of personal data in the light of technological developments"will Presenting the most important challenges in the area of protection to administrators personal data that they will have to face in 2023, Given the rapid development of new technologies. Among the experts dealing with personal data protection law during five sessions thematic issues related to the provision of effective protection of personal data in various areas of operation man, especially in those in which we observe more and more a greater tendency to use the latest technological developments also for shaping the processes of processing this data.

Honouring the promoters of data protection

An important point of the conference will be award ceremony of Michał Serzycki, Inspector General for Data Protection Personnel of the third term, who attached great importance to the education of the society on the protection of personal data. This award is annually awarded to individuals and organisations for promotion activities and education about the protection of personal data, as well as the right to privacy. During the meeting in Ełk, we will get to know this year's winners of this award.

Accompanying events

On the same day, as part of celebration of the XVII Day of Personal Data Protection, other Events dedicated to the protection of personal data in connection with with the use of new technologies.

One of them will be workshops with students of the Ełk branch University of Warmia and Mazury on "Personal data protection in the context of cyber threats".

In addition, workshops with seniors will be conducted on protection of personal data when using new technologies.

Both events will take place at the headquarters of the branch of the University in Ełk.

In turn, at the seat of the Office The City of Ełk will be provided by UODO experts consultations in the field of personal data protection and conduct training for representatives of local governments from the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.

About the Personal Data Protection Day

Personal Data Protection Day It was established to commemorate the anniversary of the opening to the signature of the oldest a legal act of international scope, comprehensively regulating issues related to the protection of personal data. This act is Convention 108 of the Council of Europe of 28 January 1981 on the protection of persons in the scope of automated processing of personal data.
