Street Sikorskiego is a strategic street in Ełk, communicating Ełk housing estates with the city center and numerous educational institutions located within it. The need to expand the road infrastructure at Sikorskiego Street was noticed for a long time. The desire to increase the level of security, Traffic improvements and obtained funding will lead to implementation of an important investment for our city.

Today (30 August) in the city hall a meeting was held, during which the president Ełku signed a contract with a representative of STRABAG for the reconstruction of ul. Sikorskiego on the section from the pedestrian crossing before turning into Warszawska Street (from the intersection with Wojska Polskiego Street) to the passage of railway line No. 38 Ełk-Korsze routes, with a total length of about 900 m. Wojciech Kossakowski, deputy member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, was also present Mayor of Ełk Mirosław Hołubowicz, City Treasurer Jarosław Wróbel, representative STRABAG Sp. z o.o., which is the contractor of the investment, as well as chairwoman of the supervisory board of the Investment Team, who will be on behalf of The city led the investment.

We managed to select a contractor for a lower price than it resulted from the cost estimate. The value of co-financing is as much as 95% of the total contract, 5% we contribute from our budget. The investment will be carried out in within 550 days from January 1. The main works on this street will begin in when the viaduct in Dąbrowskiego Street will be opened. The idea is to not to create conditions for additional traffic difficulties in the city. (...) Implementation will be liquidated traffic on the street that communicates the city center with several housing estates. – said President Tomasz Andrukiewicz.

Works Include:

-        construction of a street with a width of 7 m (as well as so far), within intersections will be increased,

-        execution of sidewalks with a width of 1.5 m to 2.5 m,

-        construction of a bicycle path or a string walking and bicycle.

As part of the agreement Two roundabouts will be built. The first of them four-inlet in the shape of "eights" will be built at the intersections with Warszawska and Piłsudskiego streets. The second three-inlet with a passable central island will be located on intersection with Gdańska Street.

Item The agreements also include, m.in:

-        construction of a technological channel with Monitoring

-        reconstruction and construction of sewage network rainwater, sanitary sewerage network,

-        reconstruction and construction of a street lighting network,

-        reconstruction and construction of the water supply network,

-        reconstruction and construction of the gas network,

-        reconstruction of the heating network,

-        reconstruction of telecommunications networks.

Cost investment: PLN 26,149,180.79, including co-financing from the Government Strategic Investment Programme Polish Governance Fund representing 95% of the value Investment.

Deadline The implementation is 550 days counted from January 1, 2024, i.e. the whole The investment will be completed in mid-2025.

Works on the street Sikorskiego will begin after the launch of traffic within the viaduct at Dąbrowskiego Street to prevent additional communication difficulties in the area of cities.
