MHE Director elected

The President of Ełk entrusted today, Dr. Rafał Żytyniec, the head of the Historical Museum in Ełk by the next 7 years. The director of MHE was elected to the position after the results of the recruitment process.

Yesterday the competition procedure ended related to the recruitment for the position of director of the Historical Museum in Ełk. Today (25 January) the Mayor of Ełk appointed Dr. Rafał Żytyniec as the director, who will lead the institution for the next 7 years.

Mr. Rafał Żytyniec has fulfilled all formal requirements regarding education and professional experience, He also presented the concept of the Museum's functioning and development for the coming years.

Dr. Rafał Żytyniec is 48 years old, he is a cultural expert, he graduated from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences of the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) and Faculty of Linguistics and Applied Cultural Studies, Jan Gutenberg
in Mainz, based in Germersheim.

From 2005 to 2006 he was an assistant professor and secretary researcher at the Institute for Western Affairs in Poznań, in the years 2006-2011 researcher at the Centre for Historical Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Since 2012, he has been an assistant professor at the Historical Department of the Historical Museum in Ełk. From On 5 September 2018, he was acting as Director of MHE and on 1 February 2019 he was appointed the position of the director of this institution.

Research interests: history of literature and culture of East Prussia with particular emphasis on the area of Warmia and Mazury, History and Present of Polish-German Cultural Relations, Comparative Aspects of German and Polish Memory Culture, World War II in Memory collective group of Poles and Germans.
