The medal "For merits for the defense of the country" is recognition for persons who, through their work or activities, have contributed to development and strengthening of the country's defense. The medal is also awarded to show high appreciation to parents who have raised many children to be exemplary and self-sacrificing citizens.

By decision of the Minister of National Defence of 10 January 2022, Ms. Janina Jakuć was awarded the silver medal "For Merits for the Defense of the Country" for raising children to be exemplary and self-sacrificing Soldiers.

The silver medal is awarded to parents, three of whom or four children are or have performed impeccably active military service.

The medal ceremony took place on the 22nd March in the Ełk City Hall. Mrs. Janina received the medal from the hands of the Military Commander Complements of Lieutenant Colonel Mirosław Morawski, accompanied by the President of Ełk Thomas Andrukiewicz.

Mrs. Janina is a mother of three sons. Two sons has completed basic military service, while the third son is on professional service Military.
