Assigning PESEL numbers to citizens of Ukraine

From Wednesday (16 March) in the main building of the Ełk City Hall the process of assigning PESEL numbers to citizens of Ukraine who crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border after 24 February. Today until 15.30 registered a total of 50 people. All adult citizens are also provided with trusted profiles that allow m.in to submit electronic applications to ZUS for the payment of a 500 plus parental benefit and a one-off benefit 300 PLN from MOPS. In order to register PESEL, you must have a document confirming identity.

The point of accepting applications for assigning a PESEL number is located at Duty officer of the Municipal Guard, room 102 on the ground floor of the main building of the City Hall Elk. Customer service took place during the Office's working hours, i.e.:

  • Mondays at 8.00-16.00
  • Tuesdays-Fridays in 7.30-15.30

Note, a citizen of Ukraine submitting an application for a PESEL number must have with you any document on the basis of which it will be possible confirmation of identity, including children (m.in passport, ID card, driver's license, birth certificates, children's school IDs, etc.).

Profiles are also created for all adult citizens of Ukraine trusted, thanks to which they can submit electronic applications for payment of benefits from ZUS Social Insurance Institution (m.in 500 plus benefit and benefit from the family care capital).

Having a PESEL number enables citizens of Ukraine:

  • legalization of stay
  • applying for the payment of financial benefits, m.in parental benefits 500 plus, one-off benefit 300 PLN, parental benefits for children up to 1 year of age, family capitals care, family allowance
  • taking up legal work through District Labour Office
  • benefiting from the support of social workers
  • applying for a reduction in fees for the stay of a child in the nursery
