Social action the World Fund for Nature (World Wide Fund for Nature) that unites every year millions of people in more than 178 countries will begin on Saturday 24 March at 20:30. For the first time, the action was held in 2007 in Sydney (Australia) and took part in the 2.2 million people.

This year's campaign "Earth Hour", will be held under the slogan "protect the heart of the Carpathians" and concerns the protection of Carpathian Forest.

City of Elk turns to action to promote the idea of the protection of the environment, which is why in the h. 20:30-21:30 will be disabled illumination lights the following objects:

·             The Office Of The City Of Elk

·             at ul. Małeckich 3

·             Ełckie Centrum Kultury

·             Art school

·             Water tower

·             Church. The Sacred Heart Of Jesus

·             The Cathedral Church. Saint Adalbert

·             road bridge on Castle Street

Residents can join the action putting out the lights on this one hour in homes and apartments.
