In ełk County, the Town Hall (September 18) Mayor of the city of Elk Tomasz Andrukiewicz met with representatives of the Volvo Bus Corporation. During the meeting, an agreement was signed to provide 6 new low-floor buses designed for the carriage of persons with disabilities-hybrid. The total cost of public transport investment is ok. 11.4 million.

At the beginning of September it was decided to purchase the tender procedures 6 new hybrid-powered air-conditioned buses to develop urban public transport.

Volvo buses 7900 Hybrid will be air-conditioned, equipped with LCD monitors and voice system passenger information.

In addition, the vehicles will meet certain requirements of the contracting authority, including m.in:

1. dimensions: length up to 12.2 m, width up to 2.55 m, a height of 3.3 m

2. floor-low for the entire length of the Interior

3. number of passengers-min. 85, including min. 25 seats, 4 seats

4. made as special seats for disabled passengers

5. information boards-passenger information system controlled by a autokomputerem from the desktop drivers, comprising a total of 5 arrays, including:

·         1 PCs. external e-Board LED front presenting line number destination stop

·         1 PCs. internal information monitor based on the color matrix LCD, showing lines and other passenger information (line number, the name of the destination bus stop, the current and the next)

·         1 PCs. the internal array, made of LED modules (presenting no line, direction and next, stop, time, etc.

·         1 PCs. the e-Board LED, rear, presenting no line

·         1 PCs. the e-Board LED side, presenting the line number and a destination

·         1pc. external array for the visually impaired is placed on the side of the vehicle, to view at least the line number (in tech.)

6. video surveillance – consisting of internal and external cameras

The first three brand new MZK bus with hybrid engines will appear in Elk next fall, and another three in the year 2020.

In the year 2019 will be delivered 3 buses, the total cost is ok. 5.7 million zł:

·         Ok. 3.9 million-grant from the EU

·         Ok. 1.8 million-contribution

In the year 2020 will be provided 3 buses, the total cost is ok. 5.7 million zł:

Hybrid drive means that the bus will have two engines: electric and internal combustion. The advantage of this type of solution is ecology – vehicles will comply with emission standards, fuel consumption savings-which will improve air quality by reducing emissions and low noise emission.

The vehicles are powered by electricity when starting off and stops at bus stops. When you reach the speed of 15-20 km/h switch to diesel power. Are equipped with batteries, electric motor and a small diesel engine. Battery load during braking, and the bus does not require additional infrastructure to charge.

City of Elk to buy hybrid buses at his disposal, ok. 7.8 million from the regional operational programme of Warmia and Mazury for years 2014-2020.
