The people of Ełk remember about the "Cursed Soldiers"

Today (1 March) is the National Day of Remembrance of the "Cursed Soldiers". Celebrations in Ełk the official ones started today at 11.15 a.m. at the plaque of the former Headquarters. State Office of Public Security. Today also at 18.00 in The Ełk Cathedral will celebrate Holy Mass in the intention of the "Cursed Soldiers". On Sunday (6 March) a street run "Wolf's Trail" is planned.

The National Day of Remembrance of the "Cursed Soldiers" was adopted February 3, 2011, to commemorate the heroes of the anti-communist and the independence underground, who after the end of the war with weapons in their hands, they resisted Soviet aggression and the regime imposed by force communist fighting for a free and democratic Poland.

On this occasion, celebrations were held in Ełk, which began at 11:15 a.m. with the laying of flowers and lighting candles at the board commemorative on the building of the former seat of the District Security Office Public in Ełk at 1 Wojska Polskiego Street.

The celebrations were attended by the president of Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicz, as well as m.in representatives of uniformed services, institutions municipal and district, Ełk schools and associations.

At 6:00 p.m. there will be a Holy Mass for the Soldiers Cursed in the Cathedral of St. Adalbert in Ełk.

Trail Wolf. Memory Run of the Cursed Soldiers

Route: Parkowa Street (start) – Kilińskiego Street – Wojska Polskiego Street – Zamkowa Street – promenade by the lake – Parkowa Street (finish line).

Limit of participants: 350 people.
