Today we celebrate the 102. Anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw

Today at 10.00 a.m. the celebrations took place official commemorating the Anniversary of the "Miracle on the Vistula". The celebrations began at Monument to Marshal Józef Piłsudski with the participation of the Military Honorary Company from Bemowo Piski. There flowers were laid and candles were lit. At 12.15 p.m. Holy Mass in the Ełk Cathedral. All day on the square at Pulaski Street you can take part in numerous attractions prepared especially for this occasion (m.in Festival of Tastes of the World, Family Picnic). In the evening there will also be Dance on the Boulevards.

102. The anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw called the "Miracle on the Vistula" commemorates the victorious battle fought during the Polish-Bolshevik war on August 15, 1920. Victory Poles over the Red Army ensured Poland's independence and saved Europe before the Bolshevik Revolution.

At Monument to Marshal Józef Piłsudski in Ełk at 10.00 began official ceremonies, where flowers were laid and candles were lit. In the celebration m.in took part: representatives of the Ełk local government headed by the president the city of Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicz, representatives of uniformed services, local government officials and residents of Ełk.

On the square at Pulaski Street is planned for an entertainment part, m.in. Festival of Tastes of the World, as well as animations and competitions for children and handicraft stalls.

Hours. 14.00 Family Picnic. In the program:

  • 14.00 - concert of the Municipal Wind Orchestra,
  • 14.45 - singing songs together patriotic with the choir "Lake District" under the direction of Daniel Szejda,
  • 15.30 - children's performance "Red Kapturek" by the Barnaby Theatre from Gdańsk,
  • 17.00 - concert of the band Dobre Wrażenie,
  • 18.00 - concert of Kraków Street Band.
The celebrations will end dance on the Boulevards by the Elk River. Start at 7.00 p.m.
