Two The sections for which tenders are currently announced are the next stage of work on implementation of S16 in the region. These are:

·         episode Olsztyn East - Barczewo, 11.4 km long,

·         episode Barczewo - Biskupiec, 18.2 km long

In within two tasks, following the current DK16:

·         a road adapted to the parameters will be created class S with a length of nearly 30 km,

·         new road junctions Wójtowo will be built, and Łęgajny,

·         junctions Barczewo, Kromerowo and Biskupiec be adapted to the parameters of class S,

·         engineering structures will be built,

·         protection devices will be installed environments, including acoustic screens,

·         animal crossings will be built,

·         road lighting will be installed,

·         a management system will be implemented traffic (ATS) with a pre-selection system (continuous traffic measurement station).

·         two Service Areas will be created (MOP) and expressway maintenance circuit in the area of the Biskupiec junction.

Express sixteen will connect the most important cities north-eastern Polish - Suwałki, Augustów, Ełk, Mrągowo, Olsztyn, Iława, Ostróda - with routes leading to the north and south of the Polish. Thanks to this, the road It will become the main transport corridor for companies in the region, but it will also be shortened Access to individual towns and improve road safety.

In addition, the Borki Wielkie section is under construction - Mrągowo, the completion of which is planned for the first half of 2024. At the stage of preparatory works there is also a section Mrągowo - Ełk. Currently We are waiting for the issuance of an environmental decision for this task.
