In the past year in the Ełk Registry Office less birth certificates were drawn up and marriages compared to 2021. The number of divorces and acts has also decreased Death. However, the statistics of the Pro-Medica hospital in Ełk show that the number of Deaths in our city remained at a similar level than a year earlier.

In our county, a downward trend is observed births, with a decrease in 2022/2021 reaching -16% (comparative county Olsztyn and the city of Olsztyn -11.6%, Elbląg county and Elbląg -13.5%. In 2021. Compared to 2020, there was no clear decrease in birth rates (only -0.4%, from here, now a decrease of -16%), because the Pro-Medica hospital in Ełk took over the function of maternity wards of nearby hospitals (e.g. Olecko). It seems that The downward trend will continue and, as in the whole voivodship and country, with Year after year, we will observe a decreasing number of births.

Number of deaths of people from the Ełk poviat (city of Ełk and county) returns to the average values observed before 2019, still higher number of deaths involving people outside the county (about 70 in 2022 compared to to 51 in 2017 and 108 in 2021).  Reduction in deaths is linked to improvement epidemiological in the field of Covid-19, improving the availability of medical facilities, which returned to the "normal" pre-epidemic mode of functioning. However It is still visible that the so-called "health debt" leaves its mark on the number of deaths, i.e. a general, multifactorial deterioration of the health situation of the society resulting from the pandemic.
