National The Day of Remembrance of the "Cursed Soldiers" is celebrated annually on March 1. It was passed on February 3, 2011 to commemorate the heroes anti-communist and independence underground, who after the end of Wars with weapons in their hands, they opposed Soviet aggression and forced violence the communist regime fighting for a free and democratic Poland.

On this occasion at the commemorative plaque on the building of the former seat of the District Office Public Security in Ełk at 1 Wojska Polskiego Street, gathered today representatives of Ełk institutions and organizations. Among the participants were m.in president Ełk Tomasz Andrukiewicz, Member of the Polish Parliament Wojciech Kosakowski and representatives Ełk County and Ełk Commune. Representatives of the services were also present uniformed officers, delegations from schools and youth from the Ełk Education Center Uniformed. Participants of the ceremony laid flowers and lit candles in A tribute to the soldiers of the Polish anti-communist and anti-Soviet underground.

As part of this year's celebration of the National Day of Remembrance of "Cursed Soldiers" today at St. Adalbert's Cathedral in Elk at 6 p.m. a Mass will be celebrated Christmas in the intention of the "Cursed Soldiers".

In the nearest Sunday, March 5, the XI edition of the run will take place in our city The Wolf Trail in memory of the "Cursed Soldiers" at the traditional distance of 1963 m, constituting reference to the year in which the last fallen "Cursed Soldier" died.
