25 November, after for the eleventh time in Ełk, the "White Ribbon" Campaign is launched.

Violence against is one of the most common human rights violations in the world, to which the which happens again and again every day, in every corner of the world. Leads to serious short- and long-term physical, economic and economic mental consequences, preventing full and equal participation in the Society.

Scale impact of violence, both in the lives of individuals and families, as well as in the lives of of the whole society, is enormous. An important condition for the effective eradication of of this negative phenomenon in the family is to understand its genesis, to know the forms that violence takes and the impact it has on the lives of more than just the victims, but also their children and the whole  Society. In addition, it is important to make it clear that neither tradition nor culture cannot be used as an excuse for violence.

The campaign has been running since November 25 to December 10. A number of events will take place during the event, m.in. consultations with specialists and workshops.

For active participation and undertaking various initiatives during the campaign, organizing classes devoted to the subject of counteracting domestic violence, violence against women, various institutions have been invited, entities, services, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations.

Next Monday, November 27, from 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m., in front of the building of the Ełk City Hall, the symbols of the campaign will be awarded. Residents are welcome.

Patronage of the The campaign was taken over by the mayor of the city of Ełk. It is organized on the initiative of the Interdisciplinary City of Ełk at MOPS in Ełk as part of the Project "EFFECTIVELY=SAFE IN EŁK". This project is implemented under the Programme "Justice", financed by the Norway Grants and the National.
