Jazz Meeting - Aga Derlak Trio – Parallel

Ełk The Cultural Centre invites you this Friday, January 12 to An encounter with jazz sound. At 7:00 p.m. in the hall The spectacular ECK will be performed by the Aga Derlak Trio in the repertoire of, m.in, Parallel's last album. The event will be held as part of the Jazz Meeting.

In this Friday, January 12 at 7:00 p.m., in the hall spectacle of the Ełk Cultural Centre, as part of the Jazz Meeting, there will be a concert of Aga Derlak Trio – Parallel.

In The Aga Derlak Trio consists of:

Aga Derlak – piano

Michael Kapczuk – double bass

Simon Madej – drums.

Aga Derlak is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston and Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. She educated with the masters of Polish jazz pianism: Michał Tokaj and Pawel Tomaszewski. She lived in Boston for two years, where she perfected her skills under the tutelage of Danilo Perez, a pianist Wayne Shorter. P Aga Derlak's work gains wide recognition both among jazz audiences and critics – at home and abroad.

Pianist is a laureate of many prestigious awards, m.in Fryderyk 2016 (Jazz: Phonographic Debut of the Year), individual award at the Zilina Jazz Competition (2016, Slovakia), Czech Contest (Czech Republic, 2015) and Krokus Jazz Festival (2014).

Artist She has taken part in the most important jazz festivals in Europe and not only: (m.in. Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival, Ankara Jazz Festival, Xjazz Berlin, Panama Jazz Festival, Edinburgh Jazz Festival, Jazztopad in NY). In September 2019, she performed her quintet at the legendary Jazz at Lincoln Center / Dizzy's Club in New York.

Pianist He realizes his musical inspirations in several projects. Aga Derlak Trio is a formation with which the artist has so far released two original albums signed by the Slovak label Hevhetia: First Thought (2015, Fryderyk Award) and Healing (2017).

Michael Kapczuk — double bassist, bass guitarist. Graduate of the Faculty Jazz at the State Music School in Warsaw on Bednarska Street in Zbigniew's class Wegehaupta and the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice in the class of Prof. Jacek Niedziela-Meira. He contributes to many music projects of various styles. He won the team Grand Prix several times at the most important competitions in Poland and abroad. As a soloist, he received ex aequo I place in the competition for Jazz Individuality of the "Jazz Nad Odrą 2013" and a distinction at the "Gnesin Jazz Festival 2012" in Moscow, "Krokus Jazz Festival 2009" in Jelenia Góra and "Tarnów Jazz Contest 2008". In 2012 he won with his own Michał Kapczuk Trio Grand Prix at the "XI International Krokus Jazz Festival". He received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage "Young Poland 2012".

Simon Madej — drummer, graduate of the Faculty of Jazz and Music Entertainment Theatre in Katowice. Among others, a member of the bands: Aga Derlak Trio, Wojciech Myrczek Quartet, Joachim Mencel Quintet, Maciej Kitajewski Trio, Sabina MeckSextet. He performed on the same stage m.in. with such artists as: Leszek Możdżer, Andy Middleton, Victor Mendoza, Marcin Pospieszalski, Piotr Baron, Piotr Wojtasik, Grzegorz Nagórski, Dorota Miśkiewicz, Kuba Badach, Katarzyna Cerekwicka, TGD and others. Among the most important awards won can be mentioned: Grand Prix at Lotos Jazz Festival – Bielsko Zadymka Jazzowa (2013, 2014), individual award at Krokus Jazz Festival (2013)
