May 27 is celebrated as Day Local Government, commemorating the first fully democratic Elections to commune councils in 1990. The holiday was established by the Sejm in 2000. In the resolution, the Sejm emphasized the importance of local governments for creating local ties and a strong state. This is a special day to highlight the importance and the role of local governments in Poland, which is the basis of democratic state.

They are the residents of Ełk, local government officials, entrepreneurs involved in the affairs of the local community and space, determine the shape of our Ełk reality.

On the occasion of the Local Government Day, we would like to thank all people associated with the local government and all Ełk residents actively involved in the initiatives, public consultations and undertakings. Thank you for care for the affairs of our city.

We wish you good health, determination and motivation for further actions for the benefit of development of the city and the Ełk self-government community. Let it not be lacking a space to implement all ideas, bringing satisfaction from achievements.

Conference for local government officials

On the occasion of the Local Government Day The President of Ełk participates in a conference organized m.in. by the Association of Polish Cities entitled "Challenges of the new term" in Warsaw. The meeting is an opportunity to discuss the priorities and tasks of the local government m.in. on the reform of spatial planning in the framework of the development policy, energy transition, digitalisation and cybersecurity, as well as local government finances.
