09 March 2022, Author: Iga Arciszewska

Polish Society of EMDR Therapy bringing together psychologists and other specialists in crisis intervention and treatment trauma has prepared a short guide (leaflet) for people accepting refugees from Ukraine. It contains tips on how to talk to children and adults, which to do and what behavior to avoid.

If you do not speak the language of your guests – get an "interpreter" on your phone or a dictionary. Find out if your guests have their basic needs secured:

  • whether they have the necessary personal belongings (comb, brush for teeth, clothes, etc.)
  • do they have a phone to be able to contact so with You and your loved ones
  • if you provide them with an independent apartment, take care of o food, personal hygiene and cleaning products
  • show them the area, tell them what and where they can find
  • explain how they can move around the area, or in your city to make them feel more independent and less dependent
  • ask if they need your help with contacts with Polish administration

See in addition what to do and say and what things to avoid.
