Further actions for Ukraine carried out in the city

The President of Ełk handed over today during the conference press releases on current assistance activities citizens of Ukraine. Among the topics were, m.in, information on the organization assigning PESEL numbers to refugees, payment of financial benefits for Poles receiving persons from Ukraine and other activities related to assistance. During today's press conference, President Tomasz Andrukiewicz provided the most important information about the implementation by the city Elk activities for the benefit of people from Ukraine. Among them m.in.:

  • from Wednesday (March 16) it will be possible to register stay in the city and obtain a PESEL number, which will be needed to obtain subsequent system benefits or registration in the District Labour Office;
  • The Office is preparing for the payment of benefits money for Poles caring for refugees (people who have made available residential premises and provided food). The local government is still waiting for detailed Regulation of the Minister;
  • all children from Ukraine are already covered school care;
  • Lambs in the Pro-Medica hospital provided there is primary health care and referrals to specialists are issued;
  • people in need of support can benefit from the help of a psychologist, sociotherapist and psychotherapist; there is also an Ełk hotline 886 935 870, where basic information on accommodation can be obtained, food or other form of assistance;
  • rooms are prepared and equipped on an ongoing basis for the arrival of people from Ukraine;
  • lessons are organized in the Ełk Cultural Center learning Polish in an extracurricular mode for children and adults from Ukraine.
