Trees for e-waste

The inhabitants of Ełk exchanged e-waste today (22 September) for tree seedlings. Everything as part of the action "You give away garbage – a tree you get."

On the John Paul II Square in Ełk from 1.00 p.m. tree seedlings in exchange for e-waste. The Mayor of the City participated in the action Ełku Tomasz Andrukiewicz, who together with the employees of the Ełk City Hall gave the Elczans half a thousand pieces of seedlings of spruce, pines, maples or Oak trees.

The idea of the project is to actively care for the environment natural and a reminder of the importance of segregation, especially e-waste, which contains numerous harmful and poisonous substances.

The most important, however, is the educational aspect, i.e. making residents aware that this type of waste must not be disposed of in the usual trash can and should be handled appropriately.

In addition, during the action there was an opportunity to talk to energy advisor to the Ełk City Hall on the "Clean Air" program. All persons interested in receiving a subsidy for the replacement of a heat source and comprehensive thermomodernization, had the opportunity to consult an expert in the scope of the principles of the "Clean Air" programme.
