First the seat of the museum were rooms in a tenement house at 3 Małeckich Street.  Since 2017  the institution is located in a former building station on the revitalized area of the Ełk Narrow-Gauge Railway (EKW since 2014 r. is located in the structures of the museum).

Museum Historical in Ełk was created to protect, get to know, bring closer to contemporaries and pass on to the next generations the unique, multicultural richness of Ełk, Warmia and Masuria.

Unit in an innovative and inspiring way " saves from oblivion" material heritage of our city and region, going beyond traditional museum activities.

On The museum's website reads: Through our We want to create a space for dialogue with history that is open to the multifaceted and multicultural heritage of Ełk and Masuria. Your mission we realize by collecting collections, organizing exhibitions and events cultural, as well as educational, popularizing and publishing activities.

On Saturday (15 October) at 16.00 there will be the celebration of the jubilee. They will be combined with the opening of the educational path "What hides the old locomotive depot, i.e. learning through the senses".

In the program:

• 4.00 p.m. - guided tour of the educational path, poster exhibition and presentation of 10 years of MHE "in pills"

• 6.00 p.m. - concert of the jazz band MRM TRIO

• 11.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. (MHE exhibition halls) - guided tour of the exhibition "Ełczanie w PRL-u. (Un)told stories"

• 11.30-16.30 (tent in front of the building) MHE) - animations for children and cotton candy
