Freedom Day on the 25th March is a holiday of the Belarusian nation, commemorating the creation of independence of the Belarusian state. On this day, all initiatives promoting white-red-white colors of the historical flag of Belarus adopted in 1918, in to which the Belarusian People's Republic declared independence, are a sign solidarity and support for the people of Belarus.

Currently in Belarus, many people are imprisoned on political charges. As a result of repression civil society is being destroyed and Belarusians are being forced to leaving their homeland. Belarusian people also live in our city families who emigrated to our country in search of safety.

As a sign of solidarity with Belarusian democratic circles today (25 March) also on the building of the Office The city of Ełk was hung white-red-white flag fighting for freedom Belarusians. Graphics are displayed on the digital screens of the town hall in the colors of the historical flag of Belarus and an inscription saying solidarity with the nation Belarusian.
