Local initiative is a common tool - residents and local government - an undertaking solving a specific problem or satisfying a specific social need.

Ideas or needs can apply to different areas e.g. small architecture, playgrounds, development of common space, roads, greenery, activities in the field of culture, education, sport, volunteering.

Local initiatives signed:

1. Local initiative: Passion for nature
City contribution: 50 000 PLN, contribution of residents: 15 660 PLN, total valuation: 65 660 PLN

The aim of the initiative is to raise awareness ecological and natural activities of the inhabitants of the city of Ełk, promotion of active leisure time as well as intergenerational integration.  The initiative will include 6 workshops herbal medicine, 9 culinary workshops, 5 trips to National Parks and Landscape, 3 nature trips and 5 meetings with a naturalist. Total 28 activities that will take place at the Environmental Education Center in Ełk a also in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie and Podlaskie voivodships. In Culinary and herbal workshops will be attended by about 100 people. In action related to sightseeing about 300 people.

2. Local initiative: Active Light 2023
City contribution: 30 000 PLN, contribution of residents: 4200 PLN, total valuation: 34 200 PLN

On the territory of the Municipal Kindergarten Światłoko at Toruńska Street it is planned to put a shelter with benches and tables in the kindergarten garden. In addition, the carport will be used to conduct educational activities.

The equipment of the shed is benches adapted specifically for such activities. The area for the gazebo will be prepared by parents of children with MP Light.

3. Local initiative: Learning through play in Niezapominajka
City's contribution: 30 000 PLN, contribution of residents: 5864 PLN, total valuation: 35 864 PLN

Premise initiative is to equip the garden of the Municipal Kindergarten Niezapominajka in Ełk at 18 Słowackiego Street. The kindergarten is largely focused on natural and sensory education, so it is worth equipping and diversifying the space of the garden, so that children can spend as much time as possible developing manual, creative, athletic, intellectual and other abilities Competence.

Retrofitting zones near the sandbox in devices such as: spring rocker – compass and swing-hammock. It is also planned to install a trellis on climbing plants to gently obscure the existing walls of neighboring buildings.

The program of the initiative also assumes the creation of a new colorful zone of backyard games. Colorful large-format games from the mass thermoplastic in front of the entrance to the building will transform the gray pavement into a new one play zone encouraging active, creative spending time on Backyard.

4. Local initiative: Sport is health, every fairytale preschooler is will say
City contribution: 40 000 PLN, contribution of residents: 5000 PLN, total valuation: 45 000 PLN

MP "Bajka" Community would like to modernize the unused kindergarten yard at
Popiełuszki 6 in Ełk. As part of the Local Initiative in 2014. Part of the kindergarten garden space was developed.

Active group parents came up with a local initiative called "Sport is health, every fairytale A preschooler will say it" - organization of movement and sports games. Newly formed A playground and sports playground would create an opportunity for children not only to be safe fun, but also develop physical and intellectual fitness through installation of age-appropriate and capable children aged kindergarten: shelters or rockers spring-loaded A safe ground for play and purchase was also thought of shading roofs that will have a protective function against rays sunny during children's play.

The playground will be available to the local community during the facility's working hours, i.e. from 6:00 a.m. until 17:00.

Tasks that will be left made as part of social work for willing people involved in modernization of this square includes: clearing the area, making excavations for toys, sowing grass.
