Elk was ranked first in the nationwide ranking entitled "Current expenses for administration" Magazines of Local Government "Community" among cities poviat districts with more than 30,000 inhabitants (category including a total of 98 cities from all over Polish). This is a promotion from the third position, which our local government took in 2014

In This year's edition of the ranking was compared two years: 2014 and 2022, taking take into account current expenditure under heading 750 general administration (excluding expenditure on purchase of repair services). The ranking ranks local governments, putting them in the position of leaders those that spend the least on administration per capita (i.e. in terms of per 1 inhabitant).

In category of district cities over 30,000 inhabitants in 2022 in current expenditure on administration amounted to PLN 276.94 per 1 inhabitant.

President Tomasz Andrukiewicz commented on the success: "Polityka The level of employment is clear and can be summed up in the words: we are working reliably, creatively and effectively, acting for the benefit of the city and residents. The budget in 2022 was not easy, so with even more caution and prudence Personnel decisions were made. Good, effective management human resources, time management, proper working atmosphere give the desired Results. It may sound idyllic, but I know from my own professional experience, that you can create a team and motivate it to work together harmoniously. Success shows how the local government of Ełk compares to other territorial units in the scope of prudent management of public funds for administration.

In The top ten of the ranking also included other county cities over 30,000 inhabitants from the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, among Iława in fourth place (PLN 330.52 per capita), and in sixth place – Ostróda with the amount of expenses PLN 341.29 per 1 inhabitant.
