In connection with the beginning of the school year, A statement was prepared concerning, m.in the number of students undertaking education in urban educational institutions.

Municipal public educational units are: currently: 7 kindergartens, 8 primary schools, High School in the Complex Sports schools. There are also 2 municipal nurseries in the city.

Number of pupils in school education primary, pre-school:

• approx. 7419 students in institutions public run by the City of Ełk (schools, kindergartens, nurseries)
• approx. 1082 students in institutions non-public ones run by other entities (nursery schools, centres kindergarten).

Nurseries:

• Number Total pupils: 254

Kindergarten:

• Number total pupils: 1725, including the number of children enrolled in classes "zero" in kindergartens: 467.

Branches pre-school "zero" at primary schools:

• Number Total pupils: 92

School Basic:

• Number pupils without pre-school classes, the so-called "zero" classes – 5140,
• Number students in classes of class I-st SP- 689
• Number integration classes – 17 (8 integration classes in Primary School No. 7; 8 branches in SP No. 2; 1 branch in SP No. 1)
