Competition Beautiful Reading organized as part of the twelfth, jubilee The National Reading will be conducted with the participation of audience, September 9 in the Leszek Błażyński Hall in Ełk. Participants of the competition read for 5 minutes any fragment of the song "Nad Niemnem" by Eliza Orzeszkowa. The condition of participation is sending the Application Card to the following e-mail address:

dorosli@biblioteka.elk.pl or personal delivery to the Adult Rental Municipal Public Library in Ełk. The deadline is September 7 2023

Hours. 13:00 - Vernissage of works "Woman in me" – group exhibition, free admission (place: library).

What year for the National Reading are selected works that create an important collection of literary works. "On the Niemen" by Eliza Orzeszkowa It is undoubtedly one of them. In the novel "On the Niemen" Eliza Orzeszkowa shows the Polish countryside, generational conflicts, relations between the court and the backwater. Vivid descriptions of expressive heroes and historical references caused the work to work was compared to Mickiewicz's Pan Tadeusz. "On the Niemen" is one of the most important works of Polish literature, moving the theme of the January Uprising, whose 160th anniversary is celebrated is in 2023.
