Celebration of the Day of the Lost Child

This Saturday (14 October), as part of the celebration of the Day of the Lost Child, solemn Holy Mass combined with the burial of the lost children.

Out of concern for families affected by the loss of a child, on October 14, 2023 (Saturday) at 10.00 a.m., as part of the celebration of the Day of the Lost Child, a solemn Holy Mass will be held combined with the burial of the lost children.

The Holy Mass for the intention of parents who experienced the loss of their children will take place in the Cathedral Parish of St. Adalbert the Bishop and Martyr in Ełk at 16 T. Kościuszki Street. Then, at the Municipal Cemetery No. 1 at Cmentarna Street in Ełk, there will be a mass burial of lost children of an ecumenical character.

In Ełk, in accordance with the ordinance of the Mayor of the City of Ełk of 1 July 2014, burials of children lost and left in the hospital take place twice a year and are financed from the city budget. The mass burial is organized by the Municipal Social Welfare Center in Ełk.

In order to pay due respect and a dignified farewell to the lost children and out of concern for the parents experiencing the pain of the loss, a burial place was designated - at the Municipal Cemetery No. 1 in Ełk. Thanks to the initiation of appropriate legal procedures, parents can bury their lost child individually or in the collective Grave of Lost Children existing in the cemetery.
