Celebrated annually on 2 May, the Flag Day of the Republic of Poland is a holiday established by the Sejm in 2004.

In front of the City Hall building, the city celebrations were held, during which whose national flag was hoisted on the mast and the Polish anthem was played. Performances Preschoolers and pupils also presented artistic performances.

As every year, the Mayor of Ełk, Tomasz Andrukiewicz, handed over to the residents flags in national and city colors. An event to encourage Elks to actively display national and city colors in the city, It is an opportunity to celebrate together.

The national flag is flown during public holidays (m.in. 2-3 May, 8 May, 1, 15 August, 1 September, 16 October, 11 November) and during the patriotic and religious celebrations, family celebrations, as well as in any other times to manifest their patriotism, joy, mourning.

3 May (Friday) 3 May Constitution Day

Tomorrow (3 May) marks the 233rd anniversary adoption of the Constitution of 3 May. We invite residents to the official celebrations public holiday:

09:45 – Holy Mass in Cathedral of St. Adalbert in Ełk. Musical setting – Kontrapunkt Choir, organ – Rafał Sulima,

11:15 a.m . – ceremony at the monument "To the Fallen for Free and Independent Poland" with the participation of the Honorary Company of the Polish Army from the Field Training of the Land Forces Orzysz and the Municipal Brass Band – Solidarity Park.

A number of events are also planned accompanying measures, including:

2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. May picnic at the lake – square at Pulaski Street,  

14:00 concert of the Municipal Brass Band,

2:45 p.m. performances of the bands: Pojezierze and Na Mazurska Nutę,

3:30 p.m. family performance "Taka Pflea" by the Little Theatre from Warsaw

16:30 concert of the band "On the wave of words" and sounds"

–Food stands with handicrafts,

–zone for children, animations, games, art corner,

–Contests with prizes,

19:00 – 21:00 Dance party with DJ "Polish Hits" – boulevards on the Ełk River.
