Renovation of the steles of German army soldiers from World War I

Municipality City Ełk received funding in the amount of PLN 84,800 from the funds of the Minister of Education. Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund – a state special-purpose fund for the task of entitled: "Renovation of the stele of soldiers of the German army killed during World War I world".

On 27 September 2024, the A contract with the contractor for the renovation of 119 steles has been soldiers of the German army killed during World War I located in on the war part of the municipal cemetery No. 1 in Ełk at Cmentarna Street. The works will be carried out as part of the task entitled "Renovation of the steles of German army soldiers fallen during World War I", which received funding from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Fund from the Culture Promotion Fund – state special-purpose fund in accordance with the agreement signed on 18 September 2024 agreement on co-financing tasks under the Government Programme Graves and Graves war cemeteries in the country.

The value of the subsidy is 84,800.00 PLN, the total value is PLN 101,657.40.

Scope of work includes, among others:

1) verticalization of the selected stele,

2) cleaning of moss, lichens and discoloration caused by weather conditions,

3) filling in the gaps in the stele (concrete repair), and in the case of one cracked stele, reconstruction (gluing, supplementation with repair concrete),

4) making the data on the buried soldiers,

5) securing surface of the stele with appropriate chemicals.

Completion of works According to the signed agreement, it is to take place in December 2024.
